Hi there, I'm taking the brave steps and changing career. The reason for this is because I've spend the last 13 years doing jobs that never Really appealed to me, the one thing I’ve always wanted to do is work for me Doing something I love, and that is computers. Ever since I got my first computer, A commodore VIC-20 back in the early 1980's before getting the great Commodore 64 I have always loved my computer. Even back then I was playing around with the code And still remember the GOTO command, and spending most nights reading the Commodore 64 User's Guide. With all this early knowledge it was no wonder I left school and Entered into a two YTS scheme doing computer programming. Unfortunately due to illness I never got the change to finish the two years. After the illness and aged 18, Money seemed the big motivation to work and any job that paid well I went for. Forward 13 years, married with 3 children I’m looking for more than just working To pay the bills, I want to enjoy what I do.

I started on my journey to become a web developer/designer in January 2008, Already I’m finding the design, coding and end results to be extremely satisfying, Even though I'm learning and designing in my spare time I feel I’ve come a long way already. I've met some great people online and in person, I have found The whole web community to be very helpful and friendly.

Apart from taking on local work for small businesses I am keen to take on some Of the more time consuming and laborious tasks everyday designers tend not to like doing e.g.; Content Population. The reason im looking for this type of work is because At the moment this is what I specialist in, I hope it won’t always be this way. I have always intended to work my way up from the bottom and this will give me A good grounding in this industry, just like a web design junior would do in An established web design agency.

the process taken

I start all designs the same and that's with a piece of paper and a pencil. My design process is simple but effective. I code all design using XHTML & CSS with Web Standards and usability in mind

Upcoming Event

dConstruct 2008

I am planning on making dConstruct 2008 my first web event experience, Apart from learning from all the speakers, I hope to meet lots of web designers/developers, maybe a few in the same boat as me.
Although the ticket prices seem high for a fledgling web developer, I'm sure the contacts and knowledge gained will counter-balance this initial outlay, if you see me there handing out my new MooCards please come and say hello.
